My Essay/Report

To discuss the final assignment post/comment on this post.

=)

So far I’ve decided that I’m going to do a report, not an essay. I’ll probably be talking about how social networking affects individual, their society, how it impacts the way they interact. I’m might also talk about how it affects a person in a psychological point of view, and what experts have to say about it.

Change  of plans, I’ve completed my Essay package. I talked about Social Networking, why people used it, what parents and experts think and how they react to  it. I also gave quotes on what teens think about social networking sites, why they use it, and statistics that show the popularity of social networking sites.

Okie dokie then, Greg Bukata.

Well I think that spending a big chunk of your day in front of a computer, or on a cell phone text messaging people is sort of useless. It’s a waste of a big  part of your life. You lose the chance of doing other things, important things.

Meeting people on the internet is not necessarily a bad thing but it’s better meeting them in person. Messaging friends over the internet for eternity  even after having just spent your day at school with them .. is just not worth it.

I think that Greg Bukata did a very good thing when he got off the internet to do “other” things, He is currently in post secondary school. He recalls that receiving actual, tangible mail felt better and more valuable than the ones he received via the internet.

Really Greg Bukata moving away from the internet was a good thing, or else he would have missed out on a lot of stuff.

Greg Bukata seems like a silent sort of person at home, than he is outside of home.Greg Bukata probably wanted to be socially interactive whenever his friends weren’t around, so he used the internet to stay connected. Not that it’s a bad thing, but there are other people around him all the time that he could have considered communicating with.

The other people:

I agree with what most of you have said about the different people from the documentary.

Evan Skinner, she did overreact a bit. She shouldn’t have sent all those e-mails and tattled on the kids, she shouldn’t have invaded her children’s privacy by monitoring them and by asking them for their passwords- with that she was going overboard. But at the same time, she was only doing to protect her children and to keep them safe from the dangers of the internet. She was just concerned. I think she needed to trust her children more but with that said, her children should also respect the trust their mother has on them.

Autumn Edows, she needed a social life. She wasn’t getting the attention she needed at school so she found out  that the internet would give what she need. She was afraid to reveal her “new, real” self to her peers, so she revealed it via the internet where she could connect to people and wouldn’t be judged for who she was. And yea some of her pictures were disturbing … but then if that is who she really wanted to be, and was happy being that new person … her parents shouldn’t have made her erase the part of her that made her happy.

Waiting

I’ve finished adding all the people from my Comp class to my blog page, each one of them have their own link. WordPress offers already-ready-made themes for the blog pages … most of them are okay looking, I like the one I have right now. =)

Right now I’m waiting for something to happen … nothing’s happening
